The Marlboro Man Sandwich

I rarely eat red meat, and I don't like steak.... until I made this sandwich, and I just about fell over with the first bite- it was that good. Rhee uses a lot of butter in her recipe, but I used less and it still tasted wonderfully delicious. (My changes are noted in the recipe below.) This is one of my DB's favorite sandwiches. Although not figure-friendly, one taste and you'll be forgetting all your stress... and with less than 10 ingredients and minimal effort, the BEST steak sandwich is born.

Ingredients:
2-3 lbs cube steak
2 large onions (I used red onion tonight)
4 French/Deli rolls (Hoagie rolls will be fine)
Butter
Lawry's seasoned salt
3/4-1 cup Worcestershire sauce
Tabasco sauce (to taste)
Sliced cheese- Havarti, Swiss, Cheddar, Provolone (optional)

Directions:
1. Start by slicing the onions thin. Cook them in 1-2 Tbsp of butter until soft and light brown. Remove from skillet and set aside.

2. Slice cube steak into 1/2-inch thick strips (slice THINLY), slicing against the grain. Season with Lawry's salt liberally.
3. In the same skillet, heat 1 Tbsp of butter over high heat until melted and beginning to brown. Add the seasoned cube steak in a single layer. Cook on one side until brown (approx. 5-7 minutes), then flip and cook until brown (approx. 5 minutes). Drain any fat.
4. Add Worcestershire sauce and 12-15 shakes of Tabasco sauce (depending on how hot you like it). Now add another 4-5 Tbsp of butter (yes, butter!).
5. Add the cooked onions, and stir to combine.

6. Halve and butter the rolls completely and brown them on a separate skillet. (Don't skimp on the butter and do NOT skip this step!!)
7. To assemble, lay the bottom half of the roll on a plate. Add sliced cheese. Place meat mixture, followed by a spoonful of juice from the pan. Top with the other half of the roll, cut in half, and devour!

... and go get on the Stairmaster. Now.
